Hey, my name is Shannon, and I run Paw Forward Dog Training, based in Southwest Leicestershire. I’m very fortunate to share life with my wonderful Labradors, Bellagio and Rupert, who keep me on my toes as we navigate their adolescence. Having two teenage males at once—whose idea was that? Keeping them physically and mentally active is a priority for me, and it’s (mostly) a pleasure to train with them every day.
Over the years I have expanded my knowledge through hands-on experience with dogs and by taking multiple courses with various science-led organisations. I am certified with the Dog Training College, and vetted and monitored through Find a Dog Trainer. Gundog training is my specialty, and helping people harness their dog’s natural instincts and drive is one of my greatest joys.
I love working with all gundog breeds—from Labradors to Spaniels to Vizslas—and I currently run a Gundog Skills course for novice handlers and dogs. This course introduces essential skills like heelwork, whistle recall, sit/stays, retrieving, and focus, all in a fun, low-pressure environment. I also work closely with many people navigating their dog’s adolescent phase. Adolescence can be a challenging time (trust me, I know this firsthand with my two boys), but it’s also a fascinating period to discover what makes your dog tick. Sometimes, all it takes is a little guidance to bring out the best in both you and your dog—and a little reassurance that if you keep going, this phase will pass.
As a lifelong learner, I understand that acquiring new skills can be both exciting and challenging. That’s why I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way, making your training journey as rewarding and enjoyable as possible for both you and your dog.
