StreetVet is a multi-award winning registered charity, established in 2016. They have performed over 4,500 free consultations for pets of people with no fixed abode.
The focus of the charity is for volunteer vets and veterinary nurses to provide essential, free of charge, veterinary services to those in need, primarily those who would struggle to access veterinary care through other providers due to lack of mobility, finances or trust.
During these outreaches our vet and vet nurse volunteers provide the same level of veterinary attention and care as a vet could give in a vet practice consulting room.
Prescribing and dispensing medications for chronic illnesses, itchy ears, flea, worms, etc. StreetVet volunteers outreach regularly in 16 locations across the UK (Birmingham, Bournemouth, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cornwall (Redruth, Camborne, Truro, Penzance, Newquay), Glasgow, Gloucester, Lincoln, London (Camden, Hackney, Clapham, Oxford Circus, Shoreditch, Croydon), Norwich, Peterborough, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Swansea).
They had to adapt our way of working this year due to the pandemic and local and regional covid-19 restrictions. Where necessary in place of outreaches we have been providing tele-medicine consults with our clients and dropping off essential food and medication.
